Woman raped with broken tree branch in horrific attack by “inhuman monster” loses two-year fight for life
Anna Barmina, 33, took almost one year to regain consciousness and never left her hospital bed after she was dragged into bushes by sex monster Gizar Ziyangareev
A brave woman has died from appalling injuries suffered at the hands of an “inhuman” rapist in an abhorrent attack two years ago.
Gizar Ziyangareev dragged Anna Barmina, 33, into bushes and “raped her with a broken tree branch” after attacking her with a knife, a court heard.
Doctors said “all her internal organs” were damaged in the brutal assault, which caused her to have a heart attack and go into a coma.
Tragically, Anna this week lost her battle for life two years after sickening attack.
She spent a year in the coma , lost 30kg in weight and never left her hospital bed in Ufa, western Russia.
But it comes after a court reduced Ziyangareev’s record 23-year prison sentence by one month, a decision blasted by Anna’s family.
The rapist had argued he had three children and an elderly mother depending on him.
Anna’s mother called the dad-of-three an “inhuman monster”.
“I just cannot understand how the court could give such a lenient term. Anna will never get up, she will never speak.
“And he will get out of jail one day and continue to rape,” Anna’s outraged mum said.
Anna was one of four women Ziyangareev raped in 2015 in one week, shortly after he was released from jail for previous violent sexual attacks on a neighbour and an underage girl.
Adel Galiev, Anna’s cousin, said: “How does he dare, after all that he did, ask for some kind of mitigation of his punishment while covering himself with his children and mother?
“Especially since he is a repeat rapist.”
The unnamed police investigator who detained Ziyangareev said: “He told me he does not regret anything he did.”
Mourners attended Anna’s funeral in Ufa on Thursday.
