A murder investigation has been launched after a teenager was stabbed to death at house party.

Forensic officers are at the scene

A 19-year-old man was stabbed to death at a property in Walsall, west Midlands, the Birmingham Mail reports.

Officers are carrying out house to house and forensic enquiries at the scene which remains cordoned off.

Neighbours have described their shock after hearing “commotion” and “a bit of shouting” in the early hours, as well as a police helicopter circling the area.

Police were called to the scene at 1.46am following reports of a disorder at the party.

They discovered the injured teenager, who has not been named.

The man sadly died despite the best efforts of emergency services at the scene.

Lorasib Khan, who lives in the area, heard a ‘commotion’ last night.

Mr Khan, a 66-year-old engineer, said: “It was about 1am. There was a commotion- a bit of shouting.

“It was kids shouting at each other. It wasn’t very loud, that’s why I didn’t take any notice. Then it went quiet.

“Then next thing I know I woke up and my wife said there had been a stabbing.”

He added: “I’ve never seen who lives there. It’s a quiet area and everyone keeps to themselves.”

Local resident Mark Davis said there was a police helicopter hovering low for some time in the early hours.

Mr Davis, a 52-year-old delivery driver, said:”It was about 1am and I heard the helicopter going around low for a good hour.

“It was going round and round. I did wonder what it was about. This is very shocking.”

A local shopkeeper, who did not wish to give his name, said: “I was going to get the papers and this is the first thing I’ve seen.

“This has shocked me. It’s a good, quiet area.”

No arrests have been made yet.

Detective Inspector Ian Wilkins from the force’s homicide team said: “Investigations are at an early stage, but there appears to have been a party at an address in Willows Road which resulted in a disorder and a young man tragically losing his life.

“I would urge the person or persons responsible for the stabbing to come forward and hand themselves in.

“The police will find out who is responsible and I would ask them to search their conscience and come and talk to us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information or anyone who was at a party at an address in Willows Road is asked to contact officers on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
